First management committee meeting in 2012

The management committee RoboCity2030-II met last February 10 at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. The main item on the agenda was the approval of the budgets for the years 2012 and 2013.

Emiliano Pérez Hernández, researcher at the UNED group, has defended his PhD Thesis the past October 21. Title‚Äôs Thesis is ‚ÄúFilling Holes Techniques for Surfaces acquired by 3D Scanners‚Äù and it has been advised by Carlos Cerrada and Santiago Salamanca. There have been members of Politécnica de Madrid, Castilla La-Mancha, Extremadura and UNED Universities in the Evaluation Committee. He has obtained the ‚ÄúSobresaliente, Cum Laude‚Äù mark.

Emiliano Pérez Hernández, investigador del grupo de la UNED, defendió su tesis doctoral el pasado 21 de octubre. La tesis lleva por título ‚ÄúTecnicas de relleno de huecos en superficies adquiridas mediante escaneres 3D‚Äù y ha sido dirigida por Carlos Cerrada y Santiago Salamanca. El Tribunal ha estado formado por profesores de las Universidades Politécnica de Madrid, Castilla La Mancha , Extremadura y de la propia UNED. La calificación ha sido Sobresaliente cum laude, por unanimidad.

Nuestro compañero Salah H. Kadhim (UC3M) presentó el día 21 de julio su tesis doctoral cuyo título es Methodology for the Development of an Autonomous Mobile Manipulator with Anthropometric Characteristics. Los directores de la tésis son Luis Moreno y Santiago Garrido. El tribunal de tesis estaba compuesto por Carlos Balaguer(UC3M), Juan Carlos García Prada (UC3M), Carlos Cerrada (UNED), Ernesto Gambao (UPM) y Antonio Gimenez (UAL). Obtuvo la máxima calificación posible, Sobresaliente cum laude, por unanimidad.

Our colleage Salah H. Kadhim presented in July 21 his PhD Thesis. Its title is Methodology for the Development of an Autonomous Mobile Manipulator with Anthropometric Characteristics. The directors of the thesis were Luis Moreno y Dolores Blanco. The jury board was formed by Carlos Balaguer(UC3M), Juan Carlos García Prada (UC3M), Carlos Cerrada (UNED), Ernesto Gambao (UPM), Antonio Gimenez (UAL). He got the maximum mark of Sobresaliente “Cum Laudem”.

Entre los días 11 y 15 de julio de 2011 se celebrará en la Universidad de Alcalá, en la Escuela Politécnica Superior, un Curso de Verano sobre Soft Computing y Robótica Móvil. El curso estará dirigido por el Dr. Manuel Ocaña, Profesor Titular del Departamento de Electrónica de la Universidad de Alcalá, y contará también con los profesores e investigadores Dr. Luis Magdalena, Director General del European Centre for Soft Computing (ECSC), el Dr. José María Alonso, investigador del ECSC, el Dr. Manuel Mucientes, Profesor de la Universidad de Santiago

A summer course in Soft Computing and Mobile Robotics will be held in the University of Alcalá, in the Polithecnic School, between 11th and 15th of July. The course will be managed by Dr Manuel Ocaña, Associate Professor in the Electronics Department. El tribunal de tesis estaba compuesto por Luis Moreno, MiguelÁngel Salichs, Antonio Barrientos, Antonio Giménez y Raul Suarez. Obtuvo la máxima calificación posible, Sobresaliente cum laude, por unanimidad.

Our colleage Ramiro Cabás presented in April, 28, 2011 his PhD Thesis. Its title is Robotics Hands Design Methodology Based On The Actuator‚Äôs States. The director of the thesis was Carlos Balaguer. The examing board was formed by Luis Moreno, MiguelÁngel Salichs, Antonio Barrientos, Antonio Giménez and Raul Suarez. He got the maximum mark of Sobresaliente Cum Laude.

Managing traffic more efficiently, reducing the number of accidents and reduce the environmental impact of the automobile are among the main objectives of this new project. The results, after 4 years of work, were presented last week in Barcelona. The ceremony was also attended by the president of FICOSA, company that has led the project, Josep Maria Pujol.
