IEEE-RAS Humanoids 2014 ready to begin

2014 IEEE-RAS International Conference on Humanoid Robots conference will be held in Madrid, Spain, during November 18-20th, 2014. Carlos Balaguer is the general chair of this conference (as well as the coordinator of RoboCity2030-III-CM) and UC3M Robotics Lab is the main organizer. Among the conference committees are included many members of RoboCity2030-III-CM. The committee received this year a record number of 322 submissions from 31 countries in 4 continents, including 284 papers, 26 workshop proposals and 13 complete videos. Our colleague Daniel Hernández García (UC3M) presented in October, 27, 2014 his PhD Thesis. Its title is Robot skills adaptation of learned models with task constraints. The directors of the thesis were Concepción Monje and Carlos Balaguer. The examing board was formed by Alberto Jardón, Manuel Ferre and Pedro Lima. He received the highest rating possible.

El consorcio RoboCity2030 ha obtenido una extension tras obtener financiación en la Convocatoria de Ayudas para la Realización de Programas de Actividades de I+D entre Grupos de Investigacion de la Comunidad de Madrid en Tecnologías cofinanciado por la Unión Europea. El nuevo acrónimo del programa es RoboCity2030-III-CM y la referencia official es S2013/MIT-2748.

RoboCity2030 consortium has been extended after obtaining funding by the call Convocatoria de Ayudas para la Realización de Programas de Actividades de I+D entre Grupos de Investigacion de la Comunidad de Madrid en Tecnologías co-funded by Structural Funds from the European Union. The new program acronym is RoboCity2030-III-CM and the official code is S2013/MIT-2748.

Juan Carlos González Víctores (CSIC) presentó el día 15 de julio de 2014 su Tesis Doctoral. El título del trabajo Robot Imagination System. Los directores fueron Alberto Jardón y Carlos Balaguer. El tribunal de tesis estaba formado Vicente Matellán, Santiago Garrido y Thrishantha Nanayakkara. Obtuvo la máxima calificación posible de sobresaliente cum laude.

Marcial Galván (CSIC) presentó el día 3 de julio de 2014 su Tesis Doctoral. El título del trabajo Optimización eficiente de procesos de interacción laser-materia mediante conformación temporal de pulsos ultracortos. Los directores fueron Luis Moreno and Javier Solís Céspedes. El tribunal de tesis estaba formado por Fernando López Martinez, Daniel Jarque García y Luis Bañares Morcillo. Obtuvo la máxima calificación posible.
